Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) Training Workshops

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) will be hosting free pre-event workshops on August 19, 2019, at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. The workshops will be organized across seven subject areas, including: Resilience Strategy and Technologies, Demand Response and Financing for Resilience, Building Design and Operations, Cybersecuring Facility Systems and Related Technologies, Fleet and Data Center Technologies, Financing Approaches for Federal Projects, and ESPC 5 Phases to Success. Military Services Energy Office Updates

Advance Your Career Through Training: Cyber-security is part of everyone’s job

The General Services Administration and the Office of the Secretary of Defense are holding an open house to gather input on Cybersecurity skills and training. Energy and Facility managers in the public and private sectors can come learn about this topic and help guide Federal efforts to respond to the new Executive Order on America’s Cybersecurity Workforce. During the meeting the Brian Gilligan of GSA and Daryl Haegley of OSD will:

  • Introduce new Cybersecurity competencies added to the FBPTA in 2019
  • Conduct a focus group to gather participants’ feedback on skills gaps and training resources related to Cybersecurity in the energy and facility management fields
  • Gather feedback on the new cybersecurity competencies and improvements to the FBPTA program
  • Explain how to earn FBPTA credit for attendance at FBPTA-Aligned Energy Exchange Sessions

Land Management Agencies Huddle

3rd Annual Energy Exchange 5K Fun Run

The 3rd Annual Energy Exchange 5K Fun Run continues the tradition established in 2017 at Tampa. Whether you’re out to prove you’re the fastest energy professional or just want to work out with other like-minded folks in the community, please come out for the fun run. We will run a scenic course along the Cherry Creek in downtown Denver. Rally point will be the southern tip of Sculpture Park, directly across Champa St from the Convention center. National Renewable Energy Laboratory Campus Tour

Energy Exchange attendees interested in learning about the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) are invited to participate in a campus tour on Friday, August 23, 2019. Attendees will learn about the lab’s capabilities, tour the South Table Mountain Campus, and have the opportunity to network with NREL scientists and experts who are transforming the energy landscape. This tour is limited to 90 attendees. Register for this tour.

50001 Ready Cohort Kickoff Meeting

Thank you for your interest in the 50001 Ready energy management system (https://www.energy.gov/eere/amo/50001-ready-program), the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) self-guided approach for facilities to establish an energy management system and self-attest to the structure of ISO 50001.

This cohort will assist all participants in walking through the process, implementing the system, and sharing lessons learned. This Kickoff meeting taking place at the 2019 Energy Exchange (EEx 19). Below is the meeting info:

Smart Labs Meetup

Please grab your lunch and bring it to the room. This is a meet up of federal staff that are participating and/or interested in Smart Labs. Smart Labs is a program within an organization, agency, and/or site that promotes safe and efficient world class science by: reducing ventilation to the lowest safe levels (during occupied and unoccupied times), implementing high ventilation effectives design, minimizing fan energy, and installing smart building controls.

DoD Energy Resilience Analysis (ERA) Tool and Energy Resilience Readiness Exercise (ERRE) Training, Presented by MIT-LL in partnership w/ ODASD(Energy)

MIT-LL will provide training on work commissioned for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy which began in 2015. The first half of the training session will review the Energy Resilience Analysis (ERA) Tool, which is required for Energy Resilience and Conservation Investment Program (ERCIP) project decisions, and which has been applied across 26 military installations. The second half of the training will be to share how to perform an Energy Resilience Readiness Exercises (ERRE) for emergency backup systems, microgrids, and other energy resilience technologies across an entire military installation. There will be time allotted for questions at the end of each training module, with a short intermission before transitioning to the ERRE training.
